Hi, i have a problem with my external hdd. i have a 320gb external hdd with casing enclosure and i divided into 3 partitions and all of them with almost full storage. Now i can't access any data / folder in all of the 3 partitions.
Each time i tried to access the folder, no data showed and on the bottom right side appear a "!" mark which says "Windows - Delayed Write Failed".

I want to recover all my data using disktest.
Do i need to prepare another hdd to store all of the data? Or will it recover in the hdd itself?

Here are few steps that i have tried.

Image
I chose create.

I chose my external hdd 320gb, then proceed.

I chose Intel.

I chose quick search.

From here i don't know what to do.

When i type "p", i can access all the data and folder which didn't show in windows explorer.
But then i don't know what i must do.

Please help me.
Thank you.

Would it be possible the you cought a virus?
TestDisk doesn't find something to repair.
So don't fix something working.
It might result in not working.
Would it be possible to check your system using malwarebyte?
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
Only if maleware would be removed, please use unhide to make your files visible;

Please check it first and let me know.

Never thought of it would be some kind of malware problem.
Let me try to scan them first, I'll let you know the progress.
Thank you Miss Fiona.

Miss Fiona, i have tried to do the full scan on the external hdd, but after a few minutes scanning, the notification "Windows - Delay Write Failed" appeared again, and the scanning stopped. after i restart my laptop, the external hdd is still the same as before, still unable to access the folders.

Sry for my bad explanation.
In case it's always better to scan the OS.
If you have no system files but only documents, photos , music etc.. on your disk, you can have a try to use unhide.
You can test a small folder to see the results.
Also it might be possible to unhide your full disk.
But only if no Systemfiles are available on that disk.
Afterwards it might be advisable to empty your Recycler and delete restore points from system volume information.

Reason is, those files could contain malware.

Miss Fiona, i've identified the problem. It turns out that my external hdd casing is the only problem. So, as you said before, my hdd is just fine. How stupid am I?
Thank you so much for your kind help. Because of your clear explanation i can delay fixing my hdd using testdisk, otherwise i would have accidentally damaging the hdd myself.
But i still have another problem with my other hdd, can i ask for your advise?

Yes, I'd need a short explanation about your problem!

When i plug the hdd to my laptop, the system detected it. But it wont show up in windows explorer. And dont detected with testdisk. The notification shows that i can safely remove hardware, but still not detect anything.

And btw, the previous hdd that i have problem with, i can explore most of the files. But there are a few folders that took a long time to load and then the files are missing or cant be copied. Does that mean my hdd is broken?

Would it be possible that your enclosure doesn't work?
To figuring it out, would it be possible to go into your device manager and check your disk under your disk drives?
If there is only an USB device is listed means your disk is not recognized.

I don't think it's because of the enclosure. When i plug into my PC via IDE cable, still can not detect the HDD. So i left it for almost 3 years now.
