FOLLOW UP HOW TO CLONE MY DRIVE WITH NO DATA ACCESS TO A NEW DRIVE

#1 Post by steveknott009 »

Good day Christophe !

Following on from my attempt to recover my photo data from a WD external drive, I tried Photo Rec but it found nothing....

So to Plan B...clone the drive to a new external drive using DD reader as you recommend..

Now to my question, how will this really work if nothing can be found so far / After all it is only a copy is it not ?

Please advise how to clone it to a new drive

Thank you very much for your time !

Kind regards Stephen Knott

Read https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf
Basically, you should
- create a Linux Live USB
- boot from it
- use ddrescue to clone the damaged disk

Good Evening Christophe

I haven't clue what you mean but I will read the help guide.

I use Wndows 7 and have bought a 3 tb external drive to transfer the data on the troublesome external drive
