How to recover a deleted, compressed NTFS partition?
Posted: 20 Apr 2017, 13:14
I have a 160GB HDD with two NTFS partitions. Due to human error, both partitions were deleted, but no further actions (formatting or so..) have been taken.
I was able to undelete the 1st, bootable partition thanks to TestDisk. But on the 2nd, much bigger partition it failed. TestDisk complained a mismatch between the concrete size and the expected size of the harddisk and refused further recovery. I assume this is due to the fact that this partition is a compressed NTFS partition, hence there's more data on the disk than thought to be possible...
Although most of the files on this disk have been backup'd before, I don't want to wipe the drive completely without further recovery trials as only "most" of the files have been backup'd.
Is this a limitation of the utility?
Any advice?
Thanx in advance
