I've accidentally merged my WIN 10 Boot Camp and Max OS

#1 Post by oriongu »

Hello,

On Mac OS, while using Boot Camp Assistant, I clicked on restore, and it then started deleting my windows partition and merging it back to the mac partition, thus loosing all my files (6 month of work) in approximately 20 seconds...

Very stupid.

My question is: Can I recover my windows partition?

Meanwhile, I'm using Photorec to recover my files, it seems to be working, but i'm loosing all folders and filenames. (1147h till completion).

Yes, it should be possible to recover your lost NTFS partition using TestDisk.
Read chapter "Recovering deleted partition using TestDisk" from https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf
