Unable to get windows to recognize disk correctly

#1 Post by fishlake »

In a previous post I asked for help to recover files that windows could no longer find on a new 10TB disk.

The disk showed up in Disk Management but not in Windows Explorer. Now that I've copied all my files using TestDisk I wanted to format the disk, but that's not an option in Disk Management for this disk. The only menu selection in TestDisk that seemed promising was the Delete all data in the partition table. After a reboot the disk shows up in Disk Management with 2 partitions, one with 2048 GB and one with 7266 GB. Only the first (2TB) will let me create a simple volume. What do I need to do to get the disk formatted to one partition with 9314 GB?

Edit: Reading the docs helped. :) I found out how to fix it myself using Testdisk.
