FAT24 - topfield PVR

#1 Post by brian911uk »

Hi,

No its not a typo the subject is FAT24. I have a topfield PVR with a 500GB hard disk which has just corrupted itself. I am trying to use testdisk to recover and it has started well in that it has found a Linux partition. Problem is on extending analyses it has given the following error at approximately cylinder 6000 of 60800.

check_FAT: can't read FAT boot sector
Invalid FAT boot sector
0 D FAT32 82884 132 53 124713 32 33 671976566
FAT32 82884 132 53 124713 32 33 671976566

Now it may just be the issue which caused the corruption but the documentation on the topfield says it uses a proprietary allocation table FAT24.

Anyone know if I can just ignore the FAT24 issue and continue with recovery.

TIA, Brian
