how do i recover files that have been partitioned off?

#1 Post by yhatzee89 »

i used my external hard drive to load up windows10 to a new computer. in doing so, it partitioned off 32G for the OS upload and marked the rest as unallocated space.
ive run TestDisk and done the "deeper search" option twice now, but it still only finds the 32g partition. what do I have to do to recover my files?

If TestDisk after Deeper Search deosn't find your partition, it's still possible to use PhotoRec to recover some files using [Whole Disk]. If most files are not recovered, enable the Expert mode in Options, use a blocksize of 512 bytes when asked, use the default options otherwise.
