After installing a new HDD, computer failed to boot and external HDD was connected, fixed the boot problem and windows 7 started normally, that's when i noticed that my 5tb external Seagate HDD had defaulted to its original name and all files had vanished except for one folder which is about 500gb, the HDD was full. After running testdisk it gave several bad relative sector errors and space conflict errors
All folders gone but One, space conflict errors

Re: All folders gone but One, space conflict errors
Do not search partitions inside a partition (I:), it's useless.
Try TestDisk, Advanced, List. Do you see your files ? Does it give better results when using Undelete ?

Re: All folders gone but One, space conflict errors
When i access the advanced menu, i am given 2 options change types and create an image, for now i have created an image, which is probably the best option anyways and will rescan for files in each individual image. Unless i am doing something wrong and that is why i am unable to see the list option, thank you for your help.
Re: All folders gone but One, space conflict errors
I ended up choosing partition type NONE and was able to use the list option, this only listed the files i can currently access on the Hdd as for Undelete it said no files were deleted ??

In this case, try PhotoRec on the free space of this filesystem.
