Have a DLL problem

#1 Post by DanW58 »

Hi, new to test disk.
I downloaded it to try and fix an SD card that came with my 3D printer.
Suddenly Windows does not read it anymore, and wants to format it.
Chkdsk reports that the formating is type RAW and cannot deal with it.
So I tried your app, testdisk_win.exe, and I get an error popup window
saying "The procedure entry point CancelSynchronousIo could not be
located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."
I'm in Windows XP...
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_qfe.130704-0421:Service Pack 3)
testdisk version:
7.1-WIP Wed Feb 7 08:28:19 CET 2018

As your computer is running Windows XP (not supported anymore by Microsoft since January 2016), use TestDisk 7.0

I have the same problem.
I run XP.
I have Testdisk 7.1. I recovered files from an hard disk with 3 partitions. Not other task was possible other than recovering files; or at least I am not up to the task. I recoverd files from the first partition: it was ok. When i tried to recover files from the other partitions Testdisk worked has far as to choose the directory where to write the files. Once the destination was choosen I pressed C, but nothing happened. So I downloaded a new Testdisk 7.1, but when I executed it I got the dll error. My previous Testdisk 7.1 was 2016, the new one is 2018. Is that the difference? Is there a way to make it work on XP?

Check the reply I got: For XP you must run version 7.0. NOT 7.1; 7.0.
I downloaded 7.0 and it worked fine.
