Help: diskpart "cleaned" fat32 partition

#1 Post by frankk74 »

Hi,

FYI... using diskpart and a drive goes offline it chooses or uses the device before it....without warning you

I mistakenly *thank you diskpart" "cleaned" a 250gb external drive. A sd card driver letter after the got popped out.. diskpart was configured to clean that drive but picked up the drive before ...

I have tried the following TestDisk(linux and windows),gparted, gnome disk and Minitool Partition Recovery V7.5...

Initially, Minitool found the 220GB of files so I didn't use it. The I tried various tools then ran it again and it only found 120GB of files...

Unfortunately the filesystem/partition had 2 ~30GB linux filesystems (raspberry pi) images had the tools (mainly gparted/gpart) mistakenly found those..

I have tried to attach the log files from TestDisk and minitool...

I suspect that the data is mostly gone now... but I was hoping it could be used to "enhance" testdisk because mintool still finds files and linux still finds the partition (or 2 of them being the same)..

Te following are some datapoints:

- exFAT filesystem on Samsung T3 external SSD 250GB, exFAT support might be part of the problem
- Linux reports 2 fat partitions but with the same info same size etc.. so that is probably messing up things
- other error messages are:
- Partition sector doesn't have the endmark 0xAA55,Invalid FAT boot sector (TestDisk messages)
- fsck.fat logical sector size is zero

This forum software is not allowing me to attached the logfiles.. invalid file type (extensions none, .txt, .log)

Help... Please and thank you...!!!!!

Frank
