Not all files available after Partition recovery

#1 Post by ron2875 »

Hi all,

I spent about 8 hrs yesterday to find a solution.

After I switched on my IMac in the morning the NTFS Windows bootcamp partiton was gone and OSX shows it as empty.

On this HDD there are only bootcamp and a part called „Daten“.

I can access all files with TestDisk and copy all successful to another place.

Then I was able to restore the drive.

But: now I can’t see all files in OSX and the same problem exists when I try to start Windows.
Also in the repair console of Windows there is the same view like in OSX.

Chkdsk and other tools calling no error. TestDisk shows only a geometry problem, heads and sectors, but can access all files as I wrote before.

Any chance to get this working again?

I hope really not to have the need to install Windows again.

BR and many Thanks,
Ron

Hello

It seems that Boot Camp must have failed resizing OSX partition. In fact, it could damage the OSX system. Looks like it's a regular issue that occurs very often, as the people talk on the forums. It can be managed without wiping your hard drive. What you should do is start up in OSX Recovery. After starting into OSX Recovery, you need to open Disk Utility in OSX Utilities. The find your OSX partition and choose Repair Disk. Hope that helps.
