Can't open filesystem after Deeper Search

#1 Post by tszkintonyso »

Hello,

I have a 2TB hard disk with 3 partitions.
Due to some Windows error, I need to re-install Windows 7.
When selecting the drive to install Windows 7, it warned me that the partition could not be installed due to some partition format.
So I ran diskpart.exe and the clean command.
After that, I installed some Windows files (around 2 MB) and was suddenly aware that all the drives had been formatted.

I want to recover the file in D:\ drive, which mainly contains the email file (.eml, .vcf) .
Thus, I found testdisk.

Then I followed the hint to select [EFI GPT].
Files could not be found after [Quick Search], so I ran [Deeper Search] for 1 week.
Unfortunately, the result seems not good with the following results:
(1) One partition can't be recovered
(2) A lot of partitions were shown. When I list the files at each partition, it shows "Can't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged".

What should I do next?
Thank you.

Use the arrow keys to switch the partitions to recover from D(eleted) to P(rimary).
By example, you can choose to recover the following 4 partitions:

Code: Select all

EFI System 2048 206847 204800 [EFI System Partition] [NO NAME]
     FAT32, blocksize=1024, 104 MB / 100 MiB
     MS Data 206848 390701055 390494208
NTFS found using backup sector, blocksize=4096, 199 GB / 186 GiB
     MS Data 390701056 2131501055 1740800000 [Data]
     NTFS, blocksize=4096, 891 GB / 830 GiB
     MS Data 2131503104 3872303103 1740800000 [Store]
     NTFS, blocksize=4096, 891 GB / 830 GiB

I have tried the example as above, but it shows "Write Error".

What is the next step I can do?

I am not sure the error is occurred because I haven't run testdisk as administrator.
Can I try one time without running the deeper search again after I quit the testdisk and run it again?

Thank you!

Just wonder if I can only re-run the deeper search again?
Can I "load" the previous deeper search result?

Thanks.

Currently TestDisk doesn't save the results from Quick or Deeper Search.
Press the key 'a' after Analyze, Quick Search and Stop to manually add the partitions you want to recover.

This worked perfectly!
All folders and files appear as it was.

Big Thanks to Christophe for providing a powerful program and answering my questions.
