Recover from encrypted android volume which was recently formatted

#1 Post by DeathKnight »

Hello,
as the topic suggests, I have an android disk image of current partition.
It was a encrypted disk which got formatted unintentionally while installing new update. I have run testdisk, photorec, magicrescue etc with no results.

Testdisk shows few partitions which sadly can't be recovered.
I was thinking (if possible) if the old partition could be recovered then I will write back the image to the same device and decrypt the file system and create an image of the decrypted filesystem and run photorec on it.

Please let me know if it is possible or not, or should I just give up. I will keep the image safe in case some solution could be found in the future.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

AFAIK it's not possible to recover the old data as the encryption key protected by a passphrase/pin/... has been lost when the partition has been reformated.
