GPT Protective Partition (inaccessible 3TB external disk, Windows)

#1 Post by chrisfox »

Disk is marked GPT Protective (Windows 10)

Need testdisk instructions to recover lost partition... my wife's photography :(

I have 3 physical disks. This is the 1 I need to recover:
Media: /dev/sdc 746 GiB WDS WD30 EZRX-00SPEB0

I've used a few other tools to see the data is there but the partition table is screwed up. I want to be able to recover the data. Looks like testdisk can do it but I need help - any help greatly appreciated.

I've followed earlier instructions in this forum re:
Run TestDisk 7.1-WIP, select the disk, EFI GPT, Analyse, Quick Search, Quit and copy/paste the content of the testdisk.log file:

Looks like an hardware problem. You wrote it's a 3TB harddisk but the disk is reported as 800GB.
This problem need to be fixed before using a data recovery utility.
