USB unreadable

#1 Post by goodflood »

Hello,

My USB key (Imation Nano Pro) 16 GB somehow stopped working. I think this was possibly when there was read/write being performed. Anyway, the data is unreadable.

Windows OS shows it as removable disk but asks to insert something in it. Linux shows it but without a partition to mount. Light flashes; then stops. I care about the data; not the drive.

Testdisk and a lot of other recovery software do not show or mount it. Very few software show the disk/key but are unable to recover anything. One software can actually test read/write to it; nothing else.

On speaking with recovery specialists, they often say that this is a physical error; not logical.

Any help and insight would be appreciated.

--------- why aren't extension such as doc, docx, rtf, pdf allowed...
