Recover Linux partition contents using Win7

#1 Post by Gandalf88 »

DLink DNS-321 NAS device with 2x 1Tb SATA HDD in Mirror. Device appears reset back to factory default. No reason to believe drives were formatted - just the device configuration the drives were in was "reset".

The device was used on a network and accessed exclusively with Windows computers. I am reading that the DLINK NAS devices use a Linux partition.

Using Windows7 and one of the SATA drives connected in an external drive bay, TestDisk can see the 900Gb+ Linux partition I need to recover files from but when I select "List Files" it tells me: "Support for this filsystem hasn't been enable during compilation".

What to do next to list/view/copy the file contents of the drive?

Thank you,
Gandalf.

You received a typically message if you used the 64 bit version.
Please have another try to use TestDisk 6.14WIP-32bit.
Obviously NAS have often Linux or Unix-partitions.
But it's a network drive and if TestDisk recognizes it, you'll be able to diagnose it.
I would need a screen from "Analyse" (it's your current partition table) and your found partition.
Please have a try to list your files and let me know.
