recovering a partition

#1 Post by rkshack »

I had a windows home server installation that I installed ubuntu over before realizing I had important files on it that I had not backed up.

I used testdisk within ubuntu and found the partition. I was able to find the directory that I need. I told it to recover the directory. Told it to copy to my flash drive. It said it completed with no failures. When I look at the flash drive there are no files there. What do I need to do?

If you have selected the mount point (directory) corresponding to your flash disk, testdisk should have copied your files on it.
