Hang on, duplicate from the damaged to the new again, or new to another drive?

Duplicate the duplicate!
If you use the broken drive you will most likely experience even more read errors.
That would degrade the second copy compared to the first one.

Unfortunately that isn't really feasible, I've a use for this new hd, not so much a second.
Mainly my goal was to rediscover what was on the drive as I couldn't remember its contents, most of it is replaceable, now.
