3TB External HDD cannot rebuild boot sector

#1 Post by therealmcarn »

Hi,

My 3TB external HDD went raw a couple of days ago, however, following the guide, I was able to restore the NTFS parition using Testdisk as it was still in the Backup Sector. However, Testdisk does not list my files and says 'Filesystem may be damaged' whenever I try to do so. Both the main and backup boot sectors are bad, I have tried running RebuildBS, however, after scanning the MFT it just throws me back to the Advanced > Boot menu still saying both sectors are bad. Is there anything else I can do except running Photorec, which doesn't really help me as there are backups on this drive that are really only usefull if they are in their original directories.

Thanks in advance
