partition not accessible

#1 Post by DTRAIN3005 »

Hi;Thank you for letting me in the forum. This is my first time to use TestDisk.

I have an old 500G HDD with two partitions. Few days ago, I encountered an error "Drive E is not accessible error. The file directory is corrupted and unreadable" on 1 out of two partitions. I came across TestDisk and tried to use it. I can see all the directories and files through the command "LIST". I tried using Rebuild BS and Repair MFT but still the partition is not accessible.

I would like to ask your help on how to make the partition accessible again.

Many thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions and help.

Once having access to valid file and folder content I would immediately backup this content to another drive. I would try Windows chkdsk afterwards after having duplicated the drive because you can't revert the chkdsk operation. After the chkdsk operation I would see if the drives becomes accessible through Windows.

Be careful not to use the broken chkdsk command of Windows 10!
