Overwritten partition during installation of FC 17

I have a data disk, 100 GB) of ext4 file system. When I tried to install Fedora 17, I accidentally inserted this data disk instead of a blank disk into the system. I did not realized until the Fedora written the partition information on the disk, then I aborted the installation without going further. Now the partition is as follow:

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdf1 * 2048 1026047 512000 83 Linux
/dev/sdf2 1026048 195362815 97168384 8e Linux LVM

My old partition was a plain ext 4 file system without any LVM stuff.
I have clone the disk with dd and I found this testdisk program. Can testdisk be used to rescue my data in this situation?

Thanks in advance for any help, as I have most of my data and research papers that I have referenced in this data disk!

Alex

TestDisk should be able to find your old partitions. Run TestDisk, Analyse, Quick Search, continue with Deeper Search if some partitions are still missing. Use the arrow keys to switch the partitions to recover from D(eleted) to P(rimary) or L(ogical). If you have all your partitions, choose to write the new partition table on next screen.
