RAW file type after failed install of openSuse

#1 Post by Niolp »

Hi there!

Here is a brief description of what i was trying to do when my disk failed:

I was installing a server version of opensuse 12.2 and it crashed,i had to reboot.
Then i left pc to boot into windows, and then i saw that my Drive "D:" was in raw filesystem and prompted to format.

My configuration of partitions in windows was this:
System reserved: 100MB
C: (about) 870GB Win7x64
D: (about) 840GB
L: 100GB (ubuntu 12.10 was in this partition, i had dual boot mode)

When i was setting partitions in opensuse, i created a /srv partition(/swap;/root;/home; where there too),
so suse propose that my /srv partition was created in partition D:, and i resized it to the minimum which was 327GB.
I went throught with the instalation process and when it was at 6%, it crashed.

Actually, i think this was the best thing that happened to me because i now realise that i could loose all data in that drive, since 327GB was more or less what i had in that drive.

Now windows see's 100GB (former ubuntu) plus +-500GB of unassigned space and the 327GB (D:) as raw.

After digging a lot, i came too you and ask for help in trying to recover data from the drive and put it good again.

Here is the output when running live kde, with terminal: fdisk -l

Code: Select all

linux@linux:~> su -l
linux:~ # fdisk -l

Note: Ignore disk/dev/sdb, because its a pendrive that i have plugged in pc.

I started the Step by Step tutorial of TestDisk, and i am running Analyse right now.
I will post result in a few minutes cause it's at 98%.

Thank's to all in advance, i sincerely hope that you can help me :D
