impl geo change pending question

#1 Post by Spark »

Disk read errors on attempt to clone using both Macrium and Paragon. If I can't duplicate the drive image should I go forth with changing the geometry or will that risk the data that might be recoverable and best to try another alternative?

No, changing geometry doesn't risk any data.
But if you'd like to change geometry, there should be a reason for.
Mostly, just required if partitions overlap and you can't recover it because two partitions can't use the same space or a partition is not found.
Changing geometry has no influence on cloning disk, if you have bad sectors.
Did you already try testdisk / advanced and ImageCreation?

I changed the geometry Heads from 255 to 240 but it was then no longer accessible. So I am back to where the disk is only partially accessible with TestDisk able to recoversome system files but not the data files. Any suggestions welcomed to further recover the data on this drive. Thank you!
