Corrupt Master File Table

#1 Post by kublait »

Hi I just stumble across TestDisk and hoping someone can provide some input.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit HP Pavillion desktop with Drobo as an external hard-drive (formatted for 16 TB but contain 5+ TB of data) connecting via firewire. Had a power outage last night and now Windows doesn't recognize the Drobo. Ran chkdsk and got message that master file table is corrupt and Windows is unable to recover the master file. contacted Drobo tech support and was advise to recover the data via 3rd party utilities such as : Stellar Phoenix, R-Studio, Data Recovery Wizard, Data Rescue PC. Then reformat the Drobo and move the data back.
Problem is that I now have to buy 5+TB of storage to recover the data from the Drobo and then move it back.
Can TestDisk help to recover the corrupt master file table so the Drobo can be mounted and recognized my Windows without having move 5+ TB of data to another external drives?
