Apple Mac Book Pro with external Western Digital 2TB backup hard disk
Hi,
I tried upgrading to Mavericks yesterday but due to a hard disk fault the installation process was interrupted. I was asked to repair my hard disk. Disk Utility could not repair the main hard disk and I started backing up from my time machine backup located on the external WD hard disk. Backup failed with a hard disk error reported on my external hard disk. Talk about bad luck!
I formatted the main hard disk and installed Mavericks, I am now trying to salvage my data from the external hard disk.
This is how far I have gotten:
$ sudo fsck_hfs -rf /dev/disk1s2
Password:
** /dev/rdisk1s2
Executing fsck_hfs (version hfs-226.1.1).
** Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume.
Invalid B-tree node size
(3, 0)
** The volume could not be verified completely.
Using TestDisk:

[Humax ] Humax partition table

[Return ] Return to disk selection
Hint: EFI GPT partition table type has been detected.

Disk /dev/rdisk1 - 2000 GB / 1863 GiB - 3907024896 sectors
Current partition structure:

P Mac HFS 409640 3906762711 3906353072
Structure: Ok. Use Up/Down Arrow keys to select partition.
Use Left/Right Arrow keys to CHANGE partition characteristics:
P=Primary D=Deleted
Keys A: add partition, L: load backup, T: change type, P: list files,
Enter: to continue
FAT32, blocksize=512, 209 MB / 200 MiB
Now this is where I do not know how to continue: If I select the EFI System Partition I can see the files when clicking "P". But this is not the backup data.
If I select the Mac HFS partition I see this:
P Mac HFS 409640 3906762711 3906353072
Support for this filesystem hasn't been enable during compilation.
I would be very thankful for any advice on how to continue!
Thanks!
