Cannot format my external hard drive Help!

#1 Post by Tallmale »

Hi everyone,

I need some help. I bought an imeoga external hard drive about a year ago and it was working fine until I unplugged it from the computer without safely removing it first. Since that point the file system is now Raw and I cannot access anything on the external hard drive. I do not mind losing the files on this hard drive but I would like to find a way to re-format it so that I can start using it again (at the moment its completely inaccessible).

I have tried reformatting it using my windows vista computer using two methods:

The Disk Management method but I keep receiving an error message which reads "The Format Did Not Complete Successfully.

2) By formatting it through the My Computer page where I keep getting an error message which reads "Windows Was Unable to Complete the format".

Any advice about how to re-format this external hard drive would be greatfully appreciated.

Many thanks.
