Hello everybody,

My SATA 500Gb WD Blue is failing over.

I have disconnected it from my laptop and connected it with a SATA-USB interface to another computer equiped with ubuntu.
I'm loaded with testdisk and photorec.

I understand some things and principles, but not everything about mbr, mft and so on.

What's the procedure from now on ? Anybody could help me ? I'll do my best to follow and answer rightfully,

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

Try TestDisk, Advanced, List (or Boot, List). If you can see your files, copy them on another disk.

Hello,
Thanks for your answer.

Ok I ran the testdisk. I can see my 3 partitions :
Recovery (FAT32)
OS (NTFS) which was my C:
DATA (NTFS) which was my D:

for every partition when I try Advanced > Boot it tells me that boot sector and backup boot sector's status are bad.

Three options : Quit / Rebuild BS / Dump

Shall I try the Rebuild BS ?

Ok, after some readings I tried the "Rebuild BS" option.

It's now searching for MFT... 196608 / 409686016
Looks like this will last for ages...

Any better option ?
