Repair HD

#1 Post by maozao »

Hello, I have a notebook that sudently stopped boot, I am getting windows blue screen when it try to startup and it try to perform a chkdsk /R but always fails.

So I'm not sure what option of the TestDisk to use to try fix this problem, I have really important files that I need to get from that HD, so actually my first point is to get those files, then I want to try repair this problem.

Anyway, I performed a Analyse scan and after hours running(3 +-), it just showed only one "Linux" partition (marked as "*"), but I remember it had 2 partitions, it's a Dell notebook, so it has a partition for their softwares(I guess, cuz i dont see any file in there), so I used the "Deep Search" function and that's the result I'm getting for now: http://s23.postimg.org/3juddf3q3/error1.png

It's showing a lot of Linux thing and this "[Data]" tag, I was running Windows 8.1, so I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing hahaha

Here is a log that I found in TestDisk folder: http://pastebin.com/2qMVvXV0

I would be really happy if I could just open the HD as a pen drive just to get specific files from it, I'm using the PhotoRec, but all those folders and files with "random" names won't help me that much to be honest.

Could you help me? What exactly should I run to get some files from that HD and if possible, how to repair it.

Here is all the screens I get while running TestDisk: https://gyazo.com/67c1a3c1bee05663729f31131feb6fb2

It's says that the structure is ok, but it shows only one partition, as a Linux one and this [Data] tag.

If I try to list the files, I get this message: https://gyazo.com/eb9ddcbe638f40664d7c795b38b2a6c5

Idk what to do, I'm really worried and I will get fired if I lose those files that I need to recover from there.

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks

Can your repeat your diagnose using TestDisk 7.1WIP 32bit?
In disk selection, can you select Disk instead of PhysicalDrive?
Should look like:
Hard disk list
Disk /dev/sda - 1000 GB / 931 GiB - CHS 121601 255 63, sector size=512
Disk /dev/sdb - 1000 GB / 931 GiB - CHS 121601 255 63, sector size=512
Disk /dev/sdc - 3000 GB / 2794 GiB - CHS 45600 255 63, sector size=4096

Disk \\.\PhysicalDrive2 - 3000 GB / 2794 GiB - CHS 45600 255 63, sector size=4096
Drive C: - 981 GB / 913 GiB - CHS 119300 255 63, sector size=512
Drive E: - 320 GB / 298 GiB - CHS 38913 255 63, sector size=512
Drive F: - 3000 GB / 2794 GiB - CHS 45598 255 63, sector size=4096

Your animation is a bit too fast. :)
But as far as I've seen it, it looks correct.
Your partition table type is EFI GPT.
Scanning can consume time.
Yes, you should run Quick Search on these settings.
Afterwards you can copy and paste the content of your testdisk.log into your next post.

The Quick Search now returns this: https://gyazo.com/a2d21cc328af5c236672408128f9002f

Ps: I got the files using a Linux machine, running a ntfsfix command to be able to mount it, so I saved the files I really needed, now I want to try solve this problem about been corrupted, because on windows I still have no access to it.

Sorry I didn't post the log above, because I could see my files now using the "P" command, so I made a copy of them into my new HD and the lgo file was too big, also I saw that after the copy of the files, some files named as ".Identifier", can I delete them? Not sure if they are related somehow with the original files since it was generated by TestDisk.

As I said, on Windows it still saying that the HD is corrupted or ilegible, can you help me whit that? Or TestkDisk is not able to do such thing?

Thank you
