You don't need to press L.
It's only intended to load a backup from of your partition table to get back to your starting situation.
As I've described above, you only should use Write to write your correct partition into your partition table.
When your partition is written into your partition table, you can close TestDisk.
Safely remove your USB-Disk and reconnect it and check that all files are available?.

Thanks Fiona for your answer. Ok, I will not press L, only Write. and when you said:
"So you can avoid to restart your PC.
Don't run any chkdsk.
Restarting a PC and you have a faulty/dirty file system, it might be possible that chkdsk (autochk) starts automatically.
In case you can press any key to stop it."

I use the translator, but i don't undertand when you said: "Restarting a PC and you have a faulty/dirty file system, it might be possible that chkdsk (autochk) starts automatically. In case you can press any key to stop it" that means that:¿if an automatically chkdsk (autochk) starts, I must stop it, or I must don NOT stop the automatically chkdsk (autochk)?

Thanks Fiona

P.D.: Restarting a PC and you have a faulty/dirty file system "faulty/dirty file system" means that the system of the Computer or the system of the external hard disk is UNCLEAN?

A million thanks Fiona, I'm trying to copied every file at the moment

means that the system of the Computer or the system of the external hard disk is UNCLEAN?
It has nothing to do with your computer.
It's only intended, in case when your file system of your USB Disk is faulty (Unclean).
It only affects your USB external disk.
But it is only in case.

When your green partition is set to P for primary, you can press enter.
You will see the menu Write.
Mark it and press enter.
You will be asked to confirm with y for yes too!
You can close testdisk.
Disconnect your USB-Disk.
Reconnect your USB-Disk and test that all files are available?

If you can't remove your disk safely, you should restart your Computer.
Nothing can happen to your data, because you've already a backup.

The number is listed under directories and the path looks like the number.
Did you select alle files?
Copying system files like Recycler, System Volume Information etc.. can cause problems.
In case TestDisk hangs.
Can you stop copying now and close testdisk?
Watch your recovered files which was the last folder and file.
Select only these folder and files, which are important to you.
Start copying your missung folder and files again.
Exclude system files and folders.
Normally. it shouldn't take as long and I assume that TestDisk probaly hangs?
Copying 1 TB of data should only take a couple of hours.

Then I try again with Testdisk the same, but now I did not change to "primary" I leave on "botteable" and then I press on write, etc and I retart but again the same problem asking to format
Image

It means that I will can not recover the external hard disk with testDisk?

Thanks Fiona

Would it be possible that your driveletter of your affected drive is B?
Would be somehow strange, because it´s actually a reserved drive letter and can cause that you can't access your data.
Disks normally starting with driveletter C:.
When it's B you can use your disk management console and change it to an available drive letter after C:
For example D: is already used and your Recovery Image.
So in your disk management console, you can right click into your affected partition and choose change drive letter.
Use one of the available.
Check your partition again, can you access your data?

When it doesn't help
The values of your partition are correct now.
Boot sector looks ok too.
It indicates, that your file system is probably damaged?
You can try to repair your file system.
You should open your command prompt with administrator privieges and run
chkdsk Driveletter: /r

Thanks Fiona, I changed the letter many days ago trying to recover the external hard disk (before I discovered testdisk) I will try to change the letter and then do again the testdisk "write" command. Thanks Fiona
