Hi all,
Please I need help, I was lucky to come across TestDisk and PhotoRec some hours ago. I have hope that I can restore my Seagate 1TB external drive.
I got hooked with TestDisk when I got this "Can't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged."
So I tried PhotoRec, right now photoRec is recovering my files unto my C drive, It has created over 250 folders already with diffrent file types and strange names.
I would like to restore my Seagate 1TB to its last working state even after PhotoRec has finishes its work. Please what can do I do to achieve this.
Please see images below for perhaps helpful information...

Try the following: run "cmd" (right click run as administrator) and "chkdsk /f d:" (replace d: by the correct drive letter)

If Windows won't assign a drive letter, is there a way to still run chkdsk against the drive?cgrenier wrote:Try the following: run "cmd" (right click run as administrator) and "chkdsk /f d:" (replace d: by the correct drive letter)

SkipperGas, you can use Windows Disk manager to affect a drive letter to the partition.

Chkdsk returns - The type of the file system is NTFS.
Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted.
what to do next?

ihimanshusoni, if chkdsk doesn't work, try TestDisk, Advanced, List and copy your files. If it failed, use PhotoRec.
