Seagate 4TB repair problem

#1 Post by GingerBeard »

Can't repair filesystem and data of Seagate 4TB hard drive ST4000DM000-1F2168
Hard drive installed into Agestar enclosure with USB and Wi-Fi.
Hard drive had 1 partition only. Now I see 3 partitions: 465.75 GB (RAW filesystem), 1582.25 GB and 1678.02 GB

testdisk (7.0 and 7.1 versions) recommends use "Intel partition table type" - and find table without data. I start deep search, but read speed of deep search about 6MB/sec (I need about half of year to end this search).

Next time I choose "GPT". Quick search took 30 hours. Logfile attached (testdisk-short-log.7z).
Quick search showed full directory structure, but repaired 2 files only (2 complete files and about 40 broken files)

Is the size of F: correct ? If it's ok, run "cmd" (right click run as administrator) and "chkdsk /f f:"

size of F: is not correct. It must be full disk.

Testdisk show this message "harddisk seems too small" after quick search (30hours)

a few days later after starting recovery files I still had two recovered files (about 7.7GB) only. And many failed files. Size of logfile was about 17 GB. First records from this large logfile is attached with first post

I try to recovery files via qphotorec_win.exe: 2.12 GB successfully recovered and photorec stop at 75%. How to run photorec to recovery after MBR limit?

Why have you choosed to recover this partition ?
MS Data 16377 7814015992 7813999616
NTFS found using backup sector, blocksize=4096, 4000 GB / 3726 GiB

If you want to save time, you can manually add this partition after Analyse, Quick Search, Stop. Once this partition has been added, set it to P(rimary), choose Write, confirm, go in Advanced, choose Boot, BackupBS, confirm, Quit and restart your computer.
