Backup Boot Sector Bad - Not Identical

Hello,

Was hoping for some suggestions on how to repair ntfs_boot_sector. The status is labeled "Bad" and states it "Can't read backup boot sector.

I attempted to copy the original BS with the TestDisk function "Orig. BS" but after I run it, it comes back stating "Write error: Can't overwrite NTFS backup boot sector."

Was curious if anyone else has run into this issue and solved it. When I try to run our Win XP on the HDD it gets to the area that says "Verifying DMI Pool Data...................Update Success." It gets stuck at that point and doesn't get to the Windows loading screen at all.

Thank you!

The partition may end after the disk end...
Try RebuildBS, List. If you can see your files, choose Write, confirm, Quit. Do you get again a write error message ?

Thank you very much for reply.

I did as you instructed and it allowed me to go to the RebuildBS, Write, and I confirmed. It gave this error message:

"Write Error: Can't write new NTFS backup boot sector"

It gave me this message previous to selecting "List" function:

filesystem size 976751937
sectors_per_cluster 8
mft_lcn 786432
mftmirr_lcn 61046996
clusters_per_mft_record -10
clusters_per_index_record 1
Extrapolated boot sector and current boot sector are identical

After attempting to Write I get this specific error:

Boot sector
Status: OK

Backup boot sector
Status:: Ok

Sectors are not identical

A valid NTFS boot sector must be present in order to access any data; even if the partition is not bootable.

Thank you.
