NTFS filesystem found under none

#1 Post by Mictek »

Hello! This is my first post here on the forum.

I have a problem with my external HDD.
Windows suggests to format my drive, since it has a RAW format acording to the windows disk management.
Going to Testdisk, I could not find the partition not even with a deep search when searching for intel partitions, but it was listed imediately as NFTS partition in the branch none.
There, I could see that the boot sector was damaged, so I used the recovery, which was still OK. However, now the HDD can still not be read by windows, and in testdisk I can only find the partition under none.
Using the List command shows me all folders and files, but copying the files doesn't work, since copying doesn't start.
Has any of you an idea how I can procede, and where the problems originates from?

Run "cmd" (right click run as administrator) and "chkdsk /f d:" (replace d: by the correct drive letter).
Does it fix the problem ?

Usually it's because the external disk has been unplugged without been ejected/unmounted properly or because it has been knock/suffer a powerloss while plugged.
