My K drive where i store most of my digital Media started becoming unaccessible after a few days of me not using it. I looked for tools to try and recover the data since windows simply wan't to format I decided to look in to recovery options. I tried Recuva from piriform and although it said it scanned a large number of files it said nothing was on the drive which lead me to Testdisk by a friend's recommendation.
I am dealing with a 4TB Seagate backup drive and it only had one main partition. I believe it was NTFS format. My main worry is that In Test disk the disk appears twice. The disk Dev sdc says its in intel partition table and drive K says its in none partition table. if I hit the P key on either of them they both seem to list all the files. i am just trying to figure out how to get the drive navigatable again now.
What should my next steps be? Worst possible solution would be to get a new drive and write the files to a new drive but screenshot feel like this should be recoverable. Is the duplicate listing the problem. Please send what ever support you can my way.
Try to enjoy your Thanksgiving if you celebrate it too.

Use /dev/sdc

Re: Seagate backup drive not working.
I ran a chkdsk just to start and that seems to have dome some things. I then restarted and loaded up testdisk and followed the steps on page 20 in the pdf you linked me.
I am still not sure what the issue is since it says the boot sectors are okay and the back up is okay but it says a valid ntfs boot sector needs to be present still.
Here is my log and the latest screenshot.

Re: Seagate backup drive not working.
UPDATE after a few more restarts and updating windows the drive appears to be functioning.
Thank you very much for your help.
I am not sure what the issue was but now when i check in TESTDISK it says the boot sectors are not identical and its working.
