SD Card not accessible and won't format
Posted: 22 May 2018, 11:22
My SD card stopped working while in the camera, there was some error while taking a photo and then I turned off and on, and next time it turned on it asked to format the card.
I inserted the SD card on my mac and it doesn’t recognise, doesn’t even appear on disk utility. But if I have the card inside the camera and connect the camera via USB then I can see in disk utility that it somehow recognises a 16GB drive but it is not mountable or readable. This is also the only way photorec/testdisk detects the card. It didn’t when inserted in the SD card slot.
I tried first using the photorec/testdisk with no success. I’m not even sure which one I should use but then I understood I could try to format the card and then use photorec to recover the photos.
But then I figured out I can’t even format the card. Not in camera and not anywhere else.
I even tried using the app SD Card Formatter to format it, but I get this message:
Otherwise I ran testdisk but nothing seems to happen. After analyse, it doesn’t find any partition, Quick or Deeper search gives no results. Photorec doesn't find anything.
Here is the log for testdisk:
Any ideas?
