Can you bring back NTFS system that was formatted to HFS+

Accidentally my Windows 10 OS NTFS sytem was reformatted to HFS+ when trying to create an OSX install disk, and 6gb of data has been written onto the newly formatted partition (the installer). I wonder if it would be possible to bring back the NTFS system so that I could see at least a part of the directories if I plug the drive to a Windows laptop. I have project files I should rescue but PhotoRec don't search for them. The partition is near to 500GB, so I guess if 6Gb was written to it, most of the data should be accessible. Can TestDisk do this?
