Hello every1.. I have Seagate Freeagent Desk HDD of 2 tb capacity. iT runs with power supply
P/N - 0ZC2AR-501
S/N - 2GETA22V
everything was fine one night.. in morning i attached it to laptop windows said format to use it...
I think its filesystem got corrupted .. i opened it with Winhex .. in a side box it says mbr is missing
I tried to recover files using getback for ntfs... It is only showing me 3 gb of data
how to recover now or to fix it.. i want my data back :-\
it was 1.5 tb full
theni tried stellar ... it showed nothing.. then i tried stellar raw recovery in that it takes long time.. it wil take 2 days i guess .. but i raw only some particular file types ca be searched ... but strange is 1-2 files i got from stellar which get back for ntfs does'nt shows and some files coruupted too
Any suggestions guys? any information u need extra like all the hex codes from winhex or something?
I don't have money to go to professionals so any advice is appracilable..
I'm not sure where the problem is

I'd need some infos from TestDisk "Analyse".
It's your current partition table.

Looks like that you have a partition in your partition table.
That's why you can diagnose your boot sector.
Like in this case;
http://forum.cgsecurity.org/phpBB3/part ... h-t14.html
But only if you closed TestDisk.
Deeper Search would be the normal way.
But consumes time.

well i'm not a professional ...
what do u mean by "there's a partition in your partition table that's why you can diagnose your boot sector"
2ndly what should i do now
deep search?
or this "Start TestDisk.
Confirm through until you see the menu Analyse.
Don't confirm at Analyse but Advanced.
Confirm at Boot with enter also.
Highlight Rebuild BS and hit Enter.
Rebuild your BS will be in progress.
Normally, it takes some minutes.
If it's finished, please post the infos or upload a screen.
If you see a menu List, please highlight it and press enter.
Please let us know, do you see your data or an error message.
To get back to the previous screen, easily press q for Quit."

Yes, a boot sector diagnose should be faster.
Thats why I suggested it first.
If a boot sector diagnose doesn't find any data, you should run deeper search, like wargo suggested.

Probably a wrong partition.
No data means empty partition?
In case you should run Deeper Search.
Even datarecovery software scanning a large drive takes time.
Looks like it's not avoidable.

but the interesting point is first i could see 3 gb of my data in getback for ntfs and more way much more data in stellar raw recovery which i can't c now
what could b the cause ?
yea one more thing u said it will take couple of minuts to rebuild boot sector ...it took hardly 5 seconds in my case
after i entered rebuild boot sector i saw 4 options
dump,list,quit ,,write
i chose write
any idea what could be wrong?
i'll try deeper
search now
