How to recover files and keep the original filename

#1 Post by mktoff12 »

I tried recovering some files but noted that photorec adds a letter before the filename, and I would like to disable this feature and recover the files with their original name.

That is wrong. Photorec mostly assigns totally new file names. Why should it modify existing file names if Photorec knew their name?
To recover filenames you simply disable Photorec by not using it and run any other recovery software.

Photorec is the tool of last resort when everything else fails and disaster has happened.
Depending on the lack of fragmentation it can deliver astounding results.
