Are you talking about PhotoRec?

Both file types can be filtered. They have separate checkboxes.

The "doc"-family contains "Microsoft Office Document (doc, xls, ppt, vsd ....)".
The "zip"-family contains "zip archives including OpenOffice and MSOffice 2007".

Always read the descriptions of the file extensions, there is no guarantee that you find the extensions themselves.

You might think that this organisation of extensions does not look intuitive but both OpenOffice and MSOffice 2007 formats are packed into a zip-type hull.
As for the fingerprint of those files you cannot distinguish a self-made zip file from such a newer office document.
This is why they belong to the same family.
