CF Card showing Alias files and weird symbols?

#1 Post by ambrose »

I spent all of last night freaking about this card that had a lot of info on it, and in my search found TestDisk/PhotoRec.

I now realize my initial problem: a piece of the connecting part of my card reader was broken - when I was using this card reader, the card wouldn't mount but it'd show up in Disk Utility (and therefore I could use PhotoRec/TestDisk).

I've used a friends card reader and now the card will mount, but this is what it looks like. My guess is I messed something up during this process (maybe because one of the connecting things wasn't connected).

Any ideas/help/tips? These pics are really important. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!

Did you already scan your CF CARD with PhotoRec?
Also, the size would be appreciated.
I assume that your card is FAT/FAT32?

It might be an idea to have a diagnose with TestDisk first.

Start TestDisk and confirm to Create a log.
Select your CF-Card and proceed with enter.
At the next screen, TestDisk checks the partition table type.
Please let me know
Proceed with enter and confirm at advanced with enter also.
Upload that screen.

Further information will follow.

Looks like, it's another disk but not your cf card.
Your disk size is 250 GB.
Please select your cf card in TestDisk and repeat it.
