Is there hope? A reason to beleive?

#1 Post by Daryl »

Currently using Ubuntu 20.04 operating system. I had hundreds of photos saved on my hard drive. A couple years ago I resized the drive and and in the process the operation failed half way through. I now have no photos. I discovered Photorec, I tried recovering the photos. I recovered lots of meaningless garbage. Gifs, pngs, lots of operating system icons, photos from the internet, etc, etc. I have not yet recovered one single photo from my camera, I know these photos were on that drive. What would account for not finding even one of them even though I found hundreds of other files. Are there special tricks to using Photorec that I need to learn about? Is there hope for me? Can someone please help me figure this out?
