Hi All
I have a 64 gig San disc micro SD card in my phone that stopped being recognised by my phone. I Plugged the SD card into a reader and into my PC, and Windows doesnt acknowledge that anything has been plugged in. In fact, just having the SD card in the reader is crashing windows file explorer unfortunately.
Ive downloaded Photorec and testdisc and had a look, but the README is way over my head and i dont really know what im doing.
Photoreq recognises my SD Card and was saying Invalid format or Bad starting head or something, but Ive navigated my way to the file recovery and given it a directory and set it to work. Its giving an estimation of 4h to completion but has been running so far for about 20 mins and has recovered about 24 MP3s and has recovered 30 directories, but its just multiple copies of the same two photos ?
Is there a tutorial or something anywhere with what i should try and fix first etc ? really not sure what i am doing.
Thanks
Dont know what im doing - SD card failure

Check out www.cgsecurity.org.
There is lots of information.
On the other hand, when you say that the "README" (file named "readme.txt") is way over your head, you would really need to consult a professional recovery service.

Re: Dont know what im doing - SD card failure
I've been going through the online documents and trying to go through some of it.
I've managed to navigate my way through the programme and find the list of folders that are on the SD card, and tried copying some files off it, but none are loading properly.
can anyone diagnose what the problem is so i can go back through the documents and try and fix it please ?

Ive gone through TestDisk, Advanced, Boot, RebuildBS and arrived at "cant find cluster size"
Disk \\.\PhysicalDrive2 - 63 GB / 59 GiB - CHS 7764 255 63
Partition Start End Size in sectors
1 * FAT32 LBA 0 32 33 7764 108 24 124733440
Boot sector
fat32_boot_sector: Can't read boot sector. Bad Backup boot sector
fat32_boot_sector: Can't read backup boot sector. Bad Sectors are identical.
A valid FAT Boot sector must be present in order to access
any data; even if the partition is not bootable.
im guessing this is not good.

Re: Dont know what im doing - SD card failure
Try Photorec and or any commercial recovery software.
Re: Dont know what im doing - SD card failure
Unfortunately photorec just gives me 20 gigs worth of the same 2 files over and over.
I was able to navigate to the list of files on the drive and copy every jpeg out of one folder, but that also just gave me duplicate copies of the same corrupt image.
