Data recover from RAW HDD

#1 Post by chap »

:?: Hi,

I have Vista Home Premium in laptop, My Seagate External HDD was working perfectly under NTFS. A month back it was creating trouble to run in laptop I checked so it is showing now RAW format, I am not able to locate my data stored, I am not able to format as showing wrong parameter, I/O error or path not correct. I try with XP, Vista and 7 but same results. I tried with friends MAC I found folders available with 110GB data. I try to transfer from MAC to other usb for recover data, few I transfer but still some available and not able to transfer through MAC too. I have tried different software to recover data but is not worth none of software locate my file and folder in HDD. I am trying now testdisk and photorec but still I am not successful to recover my data. Could any one help me how can I recover my data, once I recover than how can I change back RAW to NTFS for working condition.

Please SOS
Thanks

If you have IO errors, you should clone the HD to a new empty one as described in
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Damaged_Hard_Disk
Once it's done, remove the original disk and try TestDisk and PhotoRec on the copy.
