Hello i am trying help a friend out with his computer since he got a virus which made him to reformat his harddrive. Now i want to help him recover his files. Im using Photorec to do it and it does fine untill after 20 min of scanning and recovering it suddenly goes into a blue screen and then reboots the computer, Am i doing something wrong? I followed the instruction that was given on the site but i have no idea what i am doing wrong or could it be a damaged partition or harddrive?

If the problem was in PhotoRec itself, the program would have crash but not the OS.
So maybe the CPU is over heating or a computer memory is bad.
