How do I copy recovered files to an external Hard drive?

#1 Post by frikkieh »

My computer crashed due to a virus. I am recovering lost files with Photorec but before recovery process is completed the process stops due to lack of space on my hard drive. How do I write the recovered files to an external drive? When the process starts the program only gives me a choice of directories on my C drive.

I Tried again using the arrow keys and Enter but only the directories on drive C are shown. Never is a drive list shown. Is there another way of changing to another drive?

Press on the left arrow key until you get a list of all your drives.

SOLUTION: Run Testdisk from the external drive you want to copy the recovered files to. :D

Full description: If you are trying to recover files from a damaged disk and copy them to a different external hard drive you may find you cannot navigate to the external drive. ~Create a copy of the testdisk program on the external hard drive which you want to copy the files to. Run testdisk again but start it using the program which you just created on the external hard drive. Now when you go to copy the files you will find the external drive will be the default destination for the selected files.

Hope that helps somebody. :D :-)
