Can Photorec Filter For File Size Before Recover File?

#1 Post by MircoMartinelli »

Firtly i need to say really thank you to mr Grenier! What a great piece of software you gave us!

So as in subject i really appreciate the option to recover only certain file type, but i don't understand if there some way to filter for file size or maybe if there is a plan to introduce this function in future version.

Actually i'm working onto a troubled 500gb hard drive, from an acer laptop, and i can't understand if it is broken seems that it's not making any strange noise.

So before throw it away i'd like to low level format it; but photorec seems really slow, in 10+ hours make a 1%.

Any hint appreciated :)

PhotoRec will not know the file size until it finishes the recovery of the file itself.
Disk are usually very slow if they contains bad sectors. In this case, you should clone the disk to a new empty one using ddrescue as described in http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Damaged_Hard_Disk
