Why is there no check for redundant files

So I just recovered some photos for a lady off her HDD after she reinstalled her OS (over 200,000 images) and Photorec nearly ran out of room recovering images (only .jpg's). Looknig into it with a duplicate image checking tool I found some were recovered 18,24 and even 56 times.

I believe there needs to be options to check for duplicates during and immediately after recovery. I am spending way too much time tracking down duplicate images as it is. While I'm working on my own solution to this problem I will gladly contribute anything I get to work but I'm not an expert and a hand in doing this or perhaps someone to do it for me would be much appreciated.

using the terminal yes comand and fdupes, can ahieve the desired result but the break in operations can be considerable if you are revoering multiple terabytes and not watching the machine run.
