Too late for TestDisk?

#1 Post by Pauly »

Hi

Thank you for having this software available for free :)

My young son reformatted our 1Tb HDD, which was 90% full, when he wanted to record some TV from our Samsung TV. I have had PhotoRec running for 2 days now and it has managed to pick up a lot of files.
I have a few questions/ problems:

1. When I look at the .txt they are - sometimes short, sometimes long - scripts for PC games, software, iTunes. What do these mean and can I put them together in some sort of order?
For example:

_prepass
load_icon_scene "all"
Stud Clipping
legostud_custom_clip_distance 45.0f
legostud_custom_shadow_clip_distance 5.0f
lightning_start
sync_special lightningLightParent
wii_only
lightning_end

2. There are also many .jpg with album artwork. Would this relate to each song I have in iTunes?
3. I also have a lot of .torrent, but where are the movies?
4. PhotoRec has found over 15,000 files which most have no identifiable file names.
Can I use TestDisk when PhotoRec is finished to try to recover folders? Or is it too late?

I very much appreciate your help.

Hi,

I think you still can run Testdisk while photorec only do a search and does not alter the filesystem.
