I'm trying to write this image back on to the hard drive but having a hell of a time. First I'm using windows 7 64 bit home premium. Here is the story. I have a mac book pro. It had snow leopard on it and windows XP in boot camp. After upgrade to lion the windows partition would no longer boot. I decided to reinstall windows XP but during the process accidently write over the mac partition so now there is only windows partition. I used test disk to find the partition and create in image of it named image.dd. I am able to mount the image and look at its files using photorec. So then I found this link

that appears to tell me how to write the image back on to a drive. But when I get to this step

"Your partition should displayed correctly, if not or Unknown, go to type and choose your file system NTFS."

I am unable to see the partition. I tried all the previse partition options such as Intel, Mac, and so on but all of them say they cant find a partition or if I select none it says unknown partition. If some one could help me through this I would greatly appreciate it and if I'm completely in the wrong direction I would love some guidance.

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Image_Creation lists the reason why creating a partition image may be a good idea, you are not in this case.
You must use EFI GPT for the partition table to fix your Mac OS X computer. Use TestDisk on your disk, not on a partition image.
