Help in downloading/putting together PhotoRec, please

I downloaded photorec however it comes in several different files. I'm having a difficult time figuring out how to put this all together. Would someone please be willing to help me step by step? Also, what i'm trying to do is recover image files from a compact flash card. It apparently is corrupted because the camera states there is something wrong with the card. I cannot reformat it in the camera and when I put it in the card reader and plug into computer, several drives come up - e.g. 'E" "I" "G", and all of them useless as they don't open up to anything. Is there a possibility photorec will be able to recover anything? I tried pandora, but that program did not recognize any of the drives, or I should say it recognized them, but they were greyed out so I could not search them. Thank you very much.

TestDisk and PhotoRec are self executing.
If you'd like to run PhotoRec, usually you'd need to double click the executable PhotRec and if you use Windows for expample, double click PhotRec_Win.exe.
Here is a Step by Step Guide!

Also, I don't know what for OS do you use?
Windows, Apple, Linux etc..

Thank you, Fiona for your reply, but I need help downloading photorec, not how to use it - I haven't even gotten that far, yet. when I downloaded photorec I got this file that say "test-disc 6.14" when I open it there are 15 other files! I don't know what am I supposed to do with them. This download doesn't automatically open to a wizard that helps me set it up. I am using windows/vista. Any help is appreciated.

One of the files is photorec_win.exe, run it.
